Canberra has a range of accommodation options within 15-40 minutes walking time to the onsite conference venue, the Manning Clark Centre at The Australian National University.
 

Finding a suitable hotel

The characteristics of Canberra and the high exchange rate for the Australian dollar mean that accommodation tends to be expensive. We have chosen an on-campus conference venue to keep registration costs as low as possible, but – sadly – we cannot reduce the costs of accommodation.

You might want to check a ratings site like TripAdvisor for accommodation quality.
 

Getting the Best Rate

It pays to shop around. Various hotel booking sites and the hotels themselves offer different rates and conditions at different times.

The company we have hired to be the conference managers have negotiated a fixed rate with five hotels, which will apply as long as that category of rooms is available. You may be able to get a better rate by shopping around.

Making reservations and cancellation policy (for the hotels with guaranteed rates)

Reservations:
Contact the relevant hotel directly (by phone or e-mail) and provide the unique booking code for that hotel. The hotel will request credit card details to guarantee the accommodation booking at the time of reservation. The unique booking code will not work for web-based reservations.

Cancellation Policy:

• For all hotels apart from The Canberra Rex Hotel, cancellation requests and changes must be lodged in writing by 2pm, 24 hours prior to the scheduled arrival date to avoid a cancellation penalty equal to one (1) night’s full accommodation rate. This will be charged to the credit card provided at the time of booking.
• The Canberra Rex Hotel requires written cancellation advice 48 hours prior to the scheduled arrival date.
• All applicable cancellation fees will be retained by the Conference hotels.
