The ANU website copyright, disclaimer and privacy notices

The Integration and Implementation Sciences (I2S) website is governed in the first instance by The Australian National University (ANU) Copyright, Disclaimer and Privacy notices. Use of the I2S website implies an understanding of and agreement with these notices.

I2S terms of use and privacy notices

By completing the registration process to become an authenticated user of the Integration and Implementation Sciences (I2S) website, you expressly agree to the terms and conditions set out on this webpage, to The ANU’s Copyright, Disclaimer and Privacy notices and to any other terms, conditions, notices and disclaimers displayed elsewhere on The ANU’s sites.  The ANU/I2S may amend the Terms of Use and/or Privacy Notice at any time.

Terms of Use

Please read the Terms of Use carefully and if you do not agree with them, do not register to become an authenticated user of the I2S website.

  1. You agree that you are responsible and liable for all your activities while accessing and using the I2S website, including all activities which occur under your username and password, whether authorised or otherwise.
  2. You agree that by providing your personal information to The ANU, you consent to the collection, use and storage of your information by The ANU in the manner described in its Privacy notice, and to the use of your personal information by The ANU for the purposes set out on the I2S website.
  3. You warrant that you have all rights, ownership and responsibility for all content that you post to the I2S website, including any trademark, copyright, patent or other intellectual property rights.
  4. You warrant that you will not post any material on the I2S website that infringes the copyright of another person or entity, or that contains any libellous, defamatory, or unlawful matter, or matter that would be an invasion on the privacy of another person. Should you do so, you acknowledge that The ANU reserves the right to remove such materials from its server and terminate without warning your account as an authenticated user on the I2S website.
  5. You warrant that you will not engage in commercial or revenue-generating activity from the I2S website, including without limitation, posting any advertisements on the website. Should you do so, The ANU reserves the right to remove such materials from its server and terminate without warning your account as an authenticated user on the I2S website.
  6. You warrant that any material you post on the I2S website will comply with all applicable Commonwealth, State and Territory laws in force from time to time.
  7. You warrant that you will not tamper with the I2S website, including by posting any materials or uploading programs that can be disruptive to online communication, including without limitation any viruses, worms or Trojan horses.
  8. You agree that in the event of a complaint being made by any person or entity regarding material that you post on the I2S website, The ANU will refer that complaint on to you directly.
  9. The ANU reserves the right to refuse to post and the right to remove any material, in whole or in part, or to ban an authenticated user , without notice and for any reason whatsoever in its absolute discretion.
  10. You agree that you will at all times defend, indemnify and hold harmless The ANU, its officers, employees and agents (in this clause referred to as ‘those indemnified’) from any and all demands, liabilities, losses, costs (including legal costs and expenses), claims, expenses, and damages on account of any and all manner of claims, demands, actions and proceedings that may be initiated against those indemnified by any person as a result of your breach of the Terms of Use, your use of the I2S website, or on the grounds that information that you place on the I2S website violates any copyright, proprietary right of any person or entity, state, territory or federal law, or contains any matter that is libellous, defamatory, scandalous or vexatious.
  11. You acknowledge that to the extent permitted by law, the I2S website is made available to you as is, with no warranties whatsoever, including without limitation, the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, that the site will be available at all times, or will operate without error.
  12. You agree that to the extent permitted by law, The ANU will not be liable to you, whether in contract or in tort (including, without limitation, negligence) for lost profits or revenues, loss or interruption of use, lost or damaged data, failure of security, reports, documentation or security, or similar economic loss, or for any indirect, special, incidental, consequential or similar damages, arising out of or in connection with the use of the I2S website, or for any claim made against you, your officers, employees or by any other person or entity.
  13. If any part of the Terms of Use is held invalid, illegal or unenforceable, that part shall be severed and the remainder will continue to be valid and enforceable.

Privacy notices

The I2S team additionally provides the following assurances and warnings to individuals registering to become an authenticated user of the I2S website:

Risk
Users should be aware that the World Wide Web is an insecure public network that gives rise to a potential risk that a user's transactions could be viewed, intercepted or modified by third parties or that data which the user downloads may contain computer viruses or other defects.

Cookies
The login web page for an authenticated user of the I2S website uses transient or session cookies. You will not be able to log on to update your profile or submit posts on the I2S website unless your browser is set to accept cookies. Most web browsers are set to accept cookies automatically.

Collection of personal information
When you register to become an authenticated user (from being a public visitor/ non-authenticated user) of the I2S website, we ask you for the following information: a user identity based on your full name; e-mail address; title; first name; family name; organisational affiliation and experience with dialogue methods.  All of this information bar the email address is publically available, although the only linked accessibility to your profile is either via the Forum (and only occurs once you have made a post) and via the sites search function. Your email address is not directly available to any (authenticated or non-authenticated) user of the site, although the site administrators can access it. You can select, once you have been made an authenticated user, to allow other authenticated users (and only authenticated users) to contact you via your user name (which hides your actual email account from authenticated users). This feature can be enabled in your account, under 'contact settings' in the edit tab.

Use of personal information
All information you supply when registering for the I2S website will be used only for the purposes of running the I2S website and will not be divulged to third parties without your consent, unless required by law.

Security
We will take all reasonable steps to keep your personal information secure. Your information is held on a secure server that is in controlled facilities. All staff on the I2S Team, as well as ANU employees and contractors that provide services related to our information systems, are obliged by law, and guided by ANU policies, to respect the confidentiality of any personal information and/or research information held by the I2S website.

Communication
From time to time we will send updates about developments in Integration and Implementation Sciences. All updates will be available on the website, although you can sign up to our email updates if you desire by using the 'I2S Updates' box in the left menu. This same box in also allows you to unsubscribe. If you wish, we can manually subscribe (or unsubscribe) you to the I2S Updates and to have this done please email us at i2s [at] anu [dot] edu [dot] au or use the contact form.
